Cockapoo Breed Information
The Cockapoo is a small dog crossbreed that is bred from the Cocker Spaniel and the Poodle. It is one of the first “designer” dog breeds in the US as their breeding dates back to the early 1960s’ as opposed to the past two-decades that have seen many other designer dogs being bred for vitality, health, and hypoallergenic qualities.
Cockapoo Weight, Size, & Other Physical Characteristics
Adult Cockapoos weigh anywhere from 12-24 lbs—less for miniature or toy varieties. Like all Poodle crossbreeds, Cockapoos have varying levels of hypoallergenic friendliness depending on how much of their coat was inherited from their Poodle lineage.
These dogs come in a variety of different coat sizes and their coats can range from fluffy to scruffy depending on how much they inherit from each side.
Cockapoos are of course, loving and friendly pups—most crossbreeds are fairly well domesticated in that regard. A dog on the smaller side, the Cockapoo more than makes up for its with its energetic nature and highly outgoing, people-oriented temperament. They take well to guidance and become very affectionate of their owners as well as others.
For this reason, they are very easy dogs to own hence their popularity.
